Meet the Doctor - Avery Umphreys, DCDr. Avery Umphreys was born and raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He graduated from Treynor High School, which is in a small town about 10 miles east of Council Bluffs. From there, he went to Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, MO where he graduated with a B.S. in Biology. Upon graduation, he decided to attend chiropractic school in Overland Park, KS at Cleveland University-Kansas City.
While enrolled at CU-KC, Avery was active in many clubs on campus which helped him learn and establish his clinical skills. On top of clubs, he took over 500 hours of continuing education including Acupuncture, Dry Needling, Functional Range Systems, SFMA, DNS, MDT, MPI, and many more. Throughout taking these courses, Avery has developed a passion to help people live their best life, while providing the tools necessary to help get them there. He believes the human body was made to be active and move! He is looking forward to working with Doniphan and the surrounding communities!
In his free time, Avery enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, Katie, and their dog, Gentry. They enjoy being outside, working out, and spending time with family. He also enjoys playing disc golf and hunting!
Meet the Doctor - Katie Johnson, DC
Dr. Katie Johnson was born in Colorado, but is a Nebraska girl at heart! When she was 5 years old, her family moved to Alma, Nebraska where she attended Alma Public Schools until she graduated in 2013. She was active in academics, athletics, and community activities throughout her time in Alma, and went on to compete in track and field and softball at Hastings College.
She graduated from Hastings College in May of 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. The following September, Katie headed south and attended Cleveland University - Kansas City to further her education and pursue a doctorate degree in chiropractic. During her time at CU-KC, she attended various clubs and seminars, and she is continuously looking for opportunities to learn about more ways to help her patients.
After experiencing the city life during her 3.5 years at chiropractic school, she knew small town Nebraska was where she belonged. Katie’s parents moved to Doniphan in 2015, and it felt like the perfect community to bring chiropractic care with her boyfriend following their graduation from chiropractic school in December 2020.
Dr. Katie has a passion for helping athletes, babies/kids, and helping everyone get back to doing the things they love to do. In her free time, Dr. Katie enjoys going on adventures with Dr. Avery and their dog Gentry, trying new foods, and cheering on the Huskers - Go Big Red!
